For this project, I was tasked with designing two menus for Jazz Kissa, a restaurant by Eyal Shani.

One menu was for everyday use, and the second for a Japanese pop-up night.
The design had to reflect the sophisticated, elegant atmosphere of the Japanese Kissa while maintaining the simplicity and spirit that characterize Eyal Shani’s restaurants.

Overview

Graphic Design

For the pop-up menu, I incorporated the Jazz Kissa logo with the Japanese flag, creating a new emblem that represented the special event.

Japanese Pop-up Menu

Creating the POP UP logo

The design of this menu was deeply influenced by traditional Japanese aesthetics, particularly the geometric patterns of shoji doors.
These iconic sliding doors, with their clean lines and structured grids, served as a key source of inspiration for the menu’s layout and overall visual style.

The pop-up event featured Japanese yakitori – small, flavorful skewers. To visually represent the essence of yakitori, I drew inspiration from Japanese geometric design and incorporated principles of Gestalt psychology. This approach allowed me to craft a minimalist and balanced skewer illustration, reflecting the harmony and precision of Japanese aesthetics.
